Did the season end in Ibrox?

With a 3-1 away win in the Glasgow Rangers, which I believe is never in danger, Bayer has every chance of reaching the round of the last eight at international level.

But if you follow the current discussion, it is probably just a pattern without value, because the return match has already been cancelled, as have the upcoming Bundesliga games.

I maintain that football without fans is a pattern without value. Postpone the European Championship 2020 by one year, even if UEFA finds it difficult to teach this to the sponsors, but that is the social responsibility. If the league is postponed until Easter, then you have a better overview and can make new decisions if necessary. But that's how you get your breath back. And most importantly, the FIFA suspension period at the end of March will also be cancelled without replacement.

All this hick hack of the last days with games behind closed doors, then nevertheless refusal, one plays, the other not, that is and remains in German Murks.

That was a home win against Frankfurt that was never in danger

The outside football fan doesn't really like such games, because for 86 minutes it was clear who would be the winner after youngster Havertz had put the Werkself in the lead early on. Afterwards it was a mixture of a good Werkself performance and a weak Frankfurt performance.

The fans had challenged Paulinho with more frequent appearances, the coach threw Paulinho into the starting eleven for the first time - with six rotations compared to the cup match - and Paulinho made two huts. That's what you call successful and gives confidence for the rest of the season.

The Werkself have so far taken the strain of the English weeks and there is no sign of the fatigue that has been a feature of previous years. Our coach also rotates a lot and that gives air for the new tasks and is certainly a reason for the outstanding success so far in 2020.

Thursday now Glasgow Rangers in Ibrox. Sportingly feasible and interesting for the spectators. Let's go Werkself, the series can last.

Main thing in the lottery pot

When oppressive silence fell in the BayArena after about 10 minutes during the cup match against Union, it was clear that football was only a secondary consideration. So a medical emergency in F1 turned the game into a ghost game. Thanks also to the Union Fans for stopping their support, but sometimes there are more important things in life. By half-time the situation was defused and the affected Bayer fan was on his way to hospital after successful resuscitation.

That was also the starting signal for the Werkself to make up for the 0:1 half-time deficit. With the support of Karim Bellarabi, who had just been replaced, the equaliser was achieved and when the opponents were already preparing for extra time, Charles headed the ball into the net for a cheering 2-1 win. Diaby's baby goal for 3:1 in injury time made everything clear.

Karim is now probably the most feared striker on the Union side, having netted the winning goal for the Werkself in the injury time at the Werkself away game in Berlin just over two weeks ago.

Sunday is the draw and our logo is in the pot with three others. After three home games in a row, statistically, there is a lot to be said for an away game. That could be Bayern or Frankfurt, but also Saarbrücken. Wishless players are not considered anyway, you have to take what comes. But first, full concentration on the home game on Saturday against Frankfurt. To repeat the 6:1 from the previous season would be a wish for Saturday, if there are wishes

Too strong for runners-up

Bayer was also in good shape three days after Porto, with the highly praised runner-up RB Leipzig unable to beat the Werkself at home. Sure, a three-way would have brought us closer to the top 4, we can be satisfied with the point win with the home strong cans.

And now the English weeks continue and in the quarterfinals Union will come to Haberland on Wednesday.  Even though we have beaten them twice this season, it will not be a sure thing. So it must mean that the team is fully concentrated on this task.

And still unbeaten

It was a match that would almost have gone down in the soccer history books as Bayer 04's first defeat of the season had Josip Stanisic ...
