Crazy

You think the game is over because the referee blows the whistle. And then it's not over. Thank God Hradecky gets the penalty from Atlético, but I honestly wonder why re-shots are still allowed then. However, it went well and we at least continue to have the chance to enter the Europa League next week.

Anyway, it was a much better performance yesterday at Atlético than in previous weeks. Let's just hope that this upward trend continues in the coming weeks. We still need points, there's nothing to give away. Somehow you also have the feeling that the injury list is getting shorter, then suddenly completely different players are new on this list. And so a broad squad suddenly becomes relatively thin. We have to get through that and we'll get through it. Hopefully successfully.

Stand together

When my son tweets: "You're sixteenth in the table, you play a draw against WOB and get applause from your fans. What does that do to you?" then that impressively describes the situation in which we find ourselves.

The important thing is that we all stand together, as we did yesterday, to get out of this difficult situation. I'm still betting that the team will get a new face in the winter transfer window and that we can then leave the relegation places in the second half of the season. I know that hope dies last, but sometimes you have to be allowed to dream a little in these days. That's all I have to say today. And I know that happiness will return at some point. But when is someday, I've been asking myself for weeks?

It remains difficult

Even in mid-October, the situation of the Werkself has not changed despite the change of coach. On the contrary, after yesterday's 5:1 defeat in Frankfurt, one rather has the feeling that the team has reached a new low. Of course, it's frustrating when you have six video decisions against you in the last 3 games alone, all of which went against the Werkself. And it is also of little use the recurring statements that you have to stick together as a team and everyone has to go another way for each other.

I am not a coach and have no insight into the training business. But the fact is that it's obviously not the coach's fault, but the team's. At the beginning of the season, I wasn't a critic of the transfer policy. All I know is that the transfer market was very difficult in the lower million range. In that respect, of course, we have a team with a number of players who are now expected to pull the coals out of the fire, but who will certainly not feature in the medium term.

Somehow, despite all the criticism of the Qatar World Cup, I'm glad that the league is already going into a longer winter break in November. And the number of Werkself players in Qatar will be rather low after the performances of the last weeks. So the Bayer has longer than usual to rebuild during the winter break. For better or worse, the squad will have to be reshuffled in order to stoke up the competition in training as well. In addition, there is an urgent need to work on increasing the lack of offensive punch. Patrik Schick is the best example. However, I think it's right to let him continue playing despite the lack of goals in recent weeks. Sooner or later, the point will come that he nets again, and then hopefully more often. Every dry spell comes to an end, even in the relegation battle.

And still unbeaten

It was a match that would almost have gone down in the soccer history books as Bayer 04's first defeat of the season had Josip Stanisic ...
