Mature performance

Unlike M'Gladbach, the Werkself found the solutions we were hoping for and thus didn't let the opponent get into the game at all. Today's game clearly showed how strong Bayer has started the season: we had a lot of players in the gaps and always speed forward. The only shortcoming of the mature performance was that we should have scored one or two more goals today.

"Bayer bockstark!" wrote Bild am Sonntag today, awarding the top grade of 1 to four Bayer players at once: Victor Boniface, Granit Xhaka, Exequiel Palacios and Jonathan Tah. Granit Xhaka in particular developed into the linchpin at his old place of work and thus the player of the game.
